Before you buy
What a low price on web hosting usually leaves out
Cheap hosting can be perfectly good, but the price is only one line on the list. Check these with any provider, including us.
Renewal price
Some providers advertise a big first-term discount and charge much more at renewal. Check the price of the term you are choosing, and what the provider says about renewal, before you pay. Our checkout shows the price of every billing term before you order.
Server location
A cheap plan on a server on the other side of the world will feel slow to UK visitors. Ours is in the UK, and the test results are published.
Limits that bite later
Disk space, bandwidth and addon domains decide what you can run. Read them against your plans for the next year, not just today. Our smallest plan has 1 GB of disk and one addon domain, which suits one small site and not much more.
What support will do
Our live chat is open 24/7 and covers the hosting service. It does not include building or fixing your website, and you should be wary of any provider that implies otherwise at a very low price.
How easy it is to leave

Security and backups

Is the cheapest plan enough for me?
The plans differ in disk space, bandwidth and addon domains. Subdomains, MySQL databases and email accounts are unlimited on every plan, and every plan runs on the same UK servers, so a bigger plan changes your limits, not the service.

A worked example
Does 5 GB go far?
Disk limits sound abstract, so here is a rough sum. A business website with 40 pages and 300 photographs, each compressed to about 300 KB, uses around 90 MB of images. That is under 2% of the Small plan's 5 GB.
Add a WordPress installation, a database and a few years of email and you are still comfortably inside the limit. Plans become tight when you store original, uncompressed photos, large downloads or video on the account.
